Fortunately for the supporters, the project went on and even resulted in a successful box-office sequel called Home Alone: Lost in New York. These two films continue to earn millions of royalties even now.

Catherine O’Hara has numerous film and television appearances before to starring as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek. Her role as Macaulay Culkin’s mother in the 1990 Chris Columbus Christmas film Home Alone remains one of her most outstanding achievements to date.
O’Hara wasn’t the first choice for this renowned part. Therefore, Kate McCallister’s appearance may have been entirely different. Cinematographer Julio Macat, who shot the first Home Alone movie, revealed in a Metro interview that Big star Elizabeth Perkins was first considered for the role of Mama McCallister.

Nobody is a bigger fan of Home Alone than the cast. Catherine O’Hara has been very transparent throughout the years about how much she enjoyed working on this film and how appreciative she is that the public enjoyed it as well.
She also acknowledged that it had been a fantastic experience to work with Macaulay Culkin, who was ten years old at the time.
However, O’Hara has disclosed that it was highly challenging to film some scenes in Home Alone. The story was, after all, a little too real.
“My parents had seven children and they used to move around a lot and they didn’t always live with my sister,” she revealed in a 2015 interview with The Hamilton Spectator.
In the end, O’Hara found it extremely difficult to film one of Home Alone’s most famous scenes.
He’s talking about the family in the episode where I had to drag him upstairs to sleep in the attic because he had misbehaved. She told him, “Well, you’d be really unhappy if you woke up tomorrow morning and had no family,” and he replied, “No, I wouldn’t.” She revealed that she was supposed to reply, “Then repeat it; perhaps it will occur.”
“It killed me, I can’t tell you how much,” she continued. I could not wrap my mind around saying something so horrific to this beautiful child.”
Not being a mother then, I had no idea what my own sons would hear me say.
