David Nicholls’ novel One Day, previously adapted as a 2011 film starring Anne Hathaway, will soon be available as a Netflix series.
When will One Day be available on Netflix?
Finally, Netflix announced that One Day will launch globally on the platform on February 8, 2024.
What is the story of One Day?
Based on the 2009 book of the same name by David Nicholls, the One Day series follows Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew as they grow, change and move together and apart each year on the same day after first meeting at university, in 1988.
Here is a more thorough synopsis of the narrative:
Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley have only recently crossed paths in 1988. They both understand that they must break up the day after college graduation. But even after spending just it together, they can’t take their minds off each other. As the years go by, Dex and Em have different lifestyles very different from those they imagined themselves to be. And yet, a fantastic bond forms between them as they struggle to let go of the unique something that caught their attention that first night. Excerpts of this connection over 20 years are released annually on July 15.
Who will be cast in One Day?
Ambika Mod, who last played Shruti in the UK series This Is Going to Hurt, plays Emma Morley. This will be her breakthrough role.
Leo Woodall, another recent arrival, was cast as Dexter Mayhew. Woodall made his Netflix debut in the 2021 crime drama Cherry. The White Lotus, an HBO Original comedy series, starred the actor.
Eleanor Tomlinson was cast as Sylvie. Tomlinson played Hayley in the wedding comedy Love Wedding Repeat, her first film on Netflix.
What is the number of episodes per day?
Although the first season of One Day was initially supposed to have fifteen one-hour episodes, we have been informed that there will be at least fourteen episodes.
