Leave the World Behind, a 2023 American psychological thriller, is a captivating exploration of trust, survival, and the human condition in the face of the unknown. The story revolves around the Graham family, who seek a peaceful getaway at a luxurious rental home on Long Island. Their vacation is abruptly disrupted when a blackout plunges the world into darkness, and two strangers, played by Ali and Herrold, arrive at their doorstep seeking refuge.

Production
In July 2020, Netflix emerged victorious in a bidding war for the cinematic rights to the novel, which Sam Esmail was writing and directing. Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts were slated to produce and lead the movie.
Mahershala Ali was cast in the movie in September 2021, taking up for Denzel Washington, who had already left. Myha’la Herrold and Ethan Hawke joined in January 2022.
In a house created by The Up Studio on Long Island, filming got underway in April 2022. On May 19, 2022, more filming took place in Katonah, New York.
