‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch‘ Casts Charles Shaughnessy in Two Different Roles in Two Different Episodes
In 2021, Shaughnessy spoke with Entertainment Tonight about his experience working on television. He started by talking about his 1984 Days of Our Lives character, Shane.
Regarding his role, Shaughnessy remarked, “I was a little hesitant about doing a dad in a sitcom because, like all sitcom dads, you’re stuck for the rest of your life.” Nevertheless, the actor saw “there was something going on” as soon as he read a scene with co-star Fran Drescher.
The popular television program ran for six seasons, from 1993 to 1999. Shaughnessy and Drescher became TV icons in the 1990s as a result. Speaking about the elements that contributed to the show’s success, Shaughnessy mentioned that his rapport with Drescher was crucial.
Additionally, Shaughnessy would make two appearances in separate Sabrina the Teenage Witch episodes. For those growing up in the 1990s, Shaughnessy’s popular sitcom was a must-watch. He played two distinct parts. In the fourth episode of season five, “You Can’t Win,” he made his screen debut. Shaughnessy was Alec’s actor. He made a second appearance, albeit in a different one, in the 18th episode of the same season. Shaughnessy appeared in the episode “Witchright Hall” as James Hexton.
In the same comedy series, other celebrities also made two appearances in separate roles.
In “Job Fair,” a segment of The Office, Nelson Franklin portrayed a graphic designer who receives a call from Pam. Franklin reappeared on The Office two seasons later, this time in the role of Nick, Dunder Mifflin-Sabre’s IT specialist.
Franklin talked with Will Harris about his time on The Office during an interview with That Thing They Did Substack.
“That was my first paid acting job, on The Office,” he said. “I advised Pam to go to graphic design school in New York during a brief moment. Just the final fifteen to twenty seconds of the episode served as its bumper.”
Because Franklin was already on the show, Franklin claimed that, at first, the producers needed to decide whether to have him return as a new character.
